Formaggi del Trentino Group
Trentingrana Consorzio dei Caseifici Sociali Trentini sca, in 2010 brought together the two commercial operating centers Trentingrana and Formaggi Trentini in a single commercial center, characterized by a “group” logic, to represent local products of excellence in the respect of their typical characteristics and origin.
The new “FORMAGGI DEL TRENTINO” GROUP brought together the operational hubs of Trentingrana in Segno di Predaia, and Formaggi Trentini in Trento, in a new commercial center where all sales and marketing activities converge, acting as a sole and safe landmark for the GD / DO and for Normal Trade sectors.
To all its customers and buyers, the new group offers a range of cheeses which includes, in addition to Trentingrana, all the Trentino excellences conferred by the participating dairies and marketed nationally: Puzzone di Moena DOP, Vezzena del Trentino, Casolet Val di Sole, Tosela di Primiero, Fontal di Cavalese, Mezzano Trentino, Affogato di Sabbionara, Cuor di Fassa. In addition, the group also includes those products which are more typically local and which find their diffusion in the Trentino stores and in the neighboring provinces.
Within the new group, all those typical dairy products whose common denominator is represented by artisan production, tradition and naturalness, therefore find space. The milk derives from cows fed exclusively with hay and GMO-free feed authorized by the Consortium, which also prohibits the use of any silage. In the production process only milk, salt and rennet are used, without the addition of any preservatives or additives.
In this group logic, communication is also renewed. Indeed, a new unitary image has also been created for the various traditional cheeses to which a new brand identity has been assigned, as well as a coordinated packaging which, while maintaining some characteristic and specific features of the various dairies, has been made modern in the graphic style.
A new communication that highlights a strategic and important step towards an identity based on some fundamental assets: territoriality and excellence, respecting the uniqueness, typicality and origin of each individual product.
The story of the consortium
The transformation of milk is very important in the economy of the province of Trento. Milk and its uses are a major component both of the agricultural economy and of the social and cultural traditions of our rural population.
1897. About 240 community dairies (unregistered companies) in Trento produced butter and low-fat cheeses.
1909 – 1918. The first dairy cooperatives came into being dotted around the province, as the legislation at the time granted state and provincial subsidies only to cooperative dairies incorporated in the form of cooperative consortia. Today, there are 17 dairy coops that collect and transform the milk from about 750 farmers.
1951. The Trentino Dairy Coops and Milk Producers Consortium (CON.CA.S.T.) came into being as a second level consortium, grouping together all the dairy cooperatives in Trentino, to take on and deal with the common issues of the sector.
1973. The producers of Grana cheese formed a Consortium called TRENTINGRANA, with the aim of promoting the sale of this product. Initially the member dairies had to contribute a part of their production then from 1983 it became compulsory for them to contribute all their production.
1993. The two Consortiums merged into a single company called Trentingrana – CON.CA.S.T. s.c.a.r.l. (today Trentingrana – Consorzio dei Caseifici Sociali Trentini s.c.a.).
The Consortium has carried out and continues to carry out various functions in the dairy-cheese sector in the province of Trento, its main operating activities being:
– analysis of the milk and dairy-cheese products;
– technical assistance for production;
– curing and sale of Trentingrana cheese and other dairy-cheese products of the member dairies;
– production and sale of butter and whey in powder form;
The Consortium has two locations:
1) the registered and administrative office, the production of butter and whey in powder form, as well as the sale of products other than Trentingrana, in Trento, in via Bregenz 18;
2) the unit for maturing and sale of Trentingrana cheese, in Segno di Predaia in Val di Non, in via della Cooperazione 4.
The Consortium performs its services and production for and on behalf of its members and, when requested and compatibly with its facilities, public corporations and private companies.
It has been certified since 11th January 2002 according to the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard; the certifying body is the CSQA of Thiene.
In particular, the Laboratory is accredited in conformity with the UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard. It carries out analyses of milk and milk by-products, ensuring the payment of quality milk (raw milk from the farmers belonging to the dairy coops), and guaranteeing that the milk and dairy products from these dairies are salubrious.
The Consortium has four Operative Sectors:
– Production (Butter and Whey production);
– the Laboratory ;
– Services ;
– and the Commercial Sector.
In particular, the Laboratory is accredited in conformity with the UNI CEI EN 45001 standard. It carries out analyses of milk and milk by-products, ensuring the payment of quality milk (raw milk from the farmers belonging to the dairy coops), and guaranteeing that the milk and dairy products from these dairies are salubrious.
